WIS 23/Galena St Update 9/27/2022: WIS 23/GALENA STREET: Asphalt paving schedule: lower layer on Thu 9/29 & Fri 9/30; surface layer on Sat 10/1 & Mon 10/3. Next week: lawn restoration, pavement marking, signs, guardrail, core & install manhole castings. If all goes well, the plan is to open the road to traffic at the end of the day Friday, October 7th Then the remaining work will be completed with the west side parking lane closed and flagging operations may be required at times. October/November: finish block walls and concrete steps. Next Spring (likely April/May): finish staining block walls, install railing on walls and concrete steps, and finish restoration. WIS 23/81 INTERSECTION PAVING: Thursday, September 29th: the crew is scheduled to mill matchline joints, likely in the afternoon. Friday, September 30th: the crew is scheduled to pave the entire intersection, likely in the morning. This work will be completed under flagging operations on both days – EXPECT DELAYS!! Crews are planning to keep the intersection open (no flagging) during the morning and afternoon school traffic rush hours if possible.

Kid Wind Event at the Johnson Public Library

Want to learn what the 49 wind turbines around Darlington do and how they work? If you are a 6th thru 12th-grade student, sign up for one of the 90-minute, hands-on learning experiences that will be held in the Johnson Public Library on Sept. 8, 15 & 22 Oct. 6, all starting at 5:30 pm. Participants will be designing, building, and testing their own scale model wind turbine against each other, in a fun competition, to see which one produces the most electrical energy in a real KidWind wind tunnel! Because of the necessary materials and equipment that will be provided by KidWind, class size is limited to 10 participants per class. Call 608-776-4171.
