A few highlights for this year’s construction:
- Reconstruct WIS 23/Galena St from WIS 81/County Shop Rd to River St/CTH F
- Scheduled to start mid-March (exact start date dependent on weather and Contractor’s resources)
- Anticipated completion early October 2022
- Closed to Through Traffic with the following detour routes:
- WIS 23 detoured on USH 151 – WIS 80 – WIS 81 (Mineral Point – Platteville – Darlington)
- WIS 81 detoured on WIS 78 – WIS 11 – WIS 23 (Argyle – Wiota – Gratiot – Darlington)
- Barricades will be placed just north of STH 81/County Shop Rd and just south of River St/CTH F
- access across bridge to River St/CTH F will be open
- Access to local traffic will be maintained ONLY to residences and businesses located within the work zone
- Similar to last year’s work zone on West Harriet and Washington Streets north of the courthouse
- Through traffic will NOT be allowed access like last year on Main St
- Construction work/improvements:
- Tree clearing & grubbing
- New utilities: water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer
- Modular block retaining walls along west side of roadway
- New concrete sidewalk, steps, railing, curb & gutter, guardrail, asphalt pavement
- Work on Main Street and Bridge:
- Concrete sidewalk to be poured in at planter bed locations on Main St
- Final topsoil restoration and seeding around bridge & river banks
- Bridge deck polymer overlay
- Complete bridge railing installation
- Remaining manhole casting installations on Main Street
- Minor punch list items
