WE, the members of the Darlington Police Department are dedicated to providing service through a partnership with our community, which builds TRUST, and enhances the quality of life. “We are not Warriors, We are GUARDIANS of our Community!!!”

Around 1829, Sir Robert Peel (considered the founder of modern-day, community-oriented policing) identified nine principles that he felt were critical to effective law enforcement in a community. His seventh principle states:

“Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”

I am honored to lead such a progressive agency comprised of staff who apply the utmost excellence, integrity, and initiative every day they work. Every full-time officer employed by this agency is a resident of Darlington and I believe their passion for the community in which they work and reside is apparent in the friendly, caring, and professional manner they carry out their duties every day.

Please, never hesitate to involve us with your concerns. We are committed to the philosophy of community-oriented policing whereby we place considerable value in responses that are preventive in nature, rather than reactive, and that engage other public agencies, the community, and the private sector in addressing concerns before they become problems. The fact is, we cannot do this job without you.
