Tree & Brush

The City is asking for everyone's help and cooperation in following these simple rules regarding Tree & Brush pick-up.  This service is provided as a courtesy by the City of Darlington, and it makes everyone's job a little easier when it's done right! 

If guidelines are not followed, City personnel reserve the right to refuse pick-up.

• The regular brush pick-up is the second Tuesday of each month, and pick-up is only once a month; with the exception of Spring and Fall clean-ups, or after a significant storm which results in downed limbs.
• Branches/trimmings/brush/leaves should be placed on the grass curb (NOT IN THE STREET), no later than 7 am on the second Tuesday of the month.
• The City's burn site is no longer available for individuals to deliver brush themselves.  If you have trimmings or brush that can not wait until the monthly pick-up, residents are welcome to take them to the temporary dump site located in the quarry behind the City Garage at 137 Spring Street.

TREES & BRUSH

• The City's pick-up is for TRIMMINGS ONLY, NOT WHOLE TREES.  If you, the property owner, cut down a whole tree, or contract with someone to cut down a whole tree, it is your/their responsibility to haul it away.  The City WILL NOT pick it up.
• TRIMMINGS - branches/limbs should be set at the grass curb with the branches placed parallel to the street, with all limbs facing the same direction, so the piles can be picked up using the grappler .  Branches/limbs should be no larger than 6 inches in diameter, and the side limbs should be cut from the main limb.  Limbs should also be cut to remove any large "V" joints.
• It is helpful if trimmings are placed in separate piles based on size.
• Please do not throw logs or other items on top of the branch/limb/brush pile.
• Smaller brush or lawn & garden waste should be bagged/boxed/placed in a separate container (not to exceed 35 pounds), so they may neatly make it onto the brush truck.  If brush/lawn & garden waste is piled loosely at the curb and not in a container, it will fall through the pitchfork tines and leave a mess behind.

LEAVES

• SPRING - The City does not use the leaf vacuum in the Spring, so leaves should be bagged and placed at the grass curb, NOT raked into the street curb.  Raking leaves into the street curb can cause leaves to be blown or washed to the storm sewer catch basins, thus clogging the catch basins during rain events.
• FALL - Leaves in the Fall may be bagged or raked to the grass curb, and the leaf vacuum will suck them up.  PLEASE DO NOT BLOW LEAVES OUT INTO THE STREET.

HOLIDAY DECORATIONS

• Fall Decorations - pumpkins, mums, gourds, corn stalks, etc., will be picked up on the regularly scheduled second Tuesday of the month pick-up days in November and December
• Christmas Decorations - Christmas trees and wreaths will be picked up on the regularly scheduled second Tuesday of the month pick-up days in January and February (unless there is a snow event and staff are busy plowing snow)

IF TREE & BRUSH PICK-UP GUIDELINES ARE NOT FOLLOWED, CITY PERSONNEL RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE PICK-UP

La Ciudad solicita la ayuda y cooperación de todos para seguir estas sencillas reglas relacionadas con la recolección de árboles y ramas. Este servicio se ofrece como cortesía de la Ciudad de Darlington, y seguir correctamente estas reglas facilita un poco el trabajo para todos.

Si no se siguen estas normas, el personal de la Ciudad se reserva el derecho de rechazar la recolección.

La recolección regular de ramas se realiza el segundo martes de cada mes, y la recolección es una sola vez al mes, con excepción de las limpiezas de primavera y otoño, o después de una tormenta importante que provoque la caída de ramas.

Las ramas, recortes, restos de poda y hojas deben colocarse sobre el césped junto a la acera (NO EN LA CALLE) a más tardar a las 7:00 a. m. del segundo martes de cada mes.

El sitio de quema de la Ciudad ya no está disponible para que las personas lleven sus ramas por cuenta propia. Si tiene recortes o ramas que no pueden esperar hasta la recolección mensual, los residentes pueden llevarlos al sitio temporal de depósito ubicado en la cantera detrás del Garage Municipal, en 137 Spring Street.

ÁRBOLES Y RAMAS

La recolección de la Ciudad es únicamente para RECORTES Y RESTOS DE PODA, NO ÁRBOLES ENTEROS. Si usted, como propietario, tala un árbol entero, o contrata a alguien para talar un árbol entero, es responsabilidad de usted o de la persona contratada retirarlo y transportarlo. La Ciudad NO lo recogerá.

RECORTES Y RESTOS DE PODA: Las ramas deben colocarse junto al borde del césped, con las ramas orientadas paralelas a la calle y todas en la misma dirección, para que los montones puedan recogerse con el equipo de pinzas hidráulicas. Las ramas no deben tener más de 6 pulgadas de diámetro, y las ramas laterales deben cortarse de la rama principal. También se deben cortar las ramas para eliminar las uniones grandes en forma de “V”.

Es recomendable colocar los recortes y restos de poda en montones separados según su tamaño.

Por favor, no coloque troncos ni otros objetos encima de los montones de ramas o restos de poda.

Las ramas pequeñas y los residuos del césped y jardín deben colocarse en bolsas, cajas o un recipiente separado (no debe pesar más de 35 libras), para que puedan colocarse ordenadamente en el camión de recolección de ramas. Si las ramas pequeñas o los residuos del césped y jardín se amontonan sueltos junto a la acera y no están dentro de un recipiente, caerán entre las púas de la horquilla y dejarán residuos esparcidos.

HOJAS

PRIMAVERA: La Ciudad no utiliza la aspiradora de hojas durante la primavera, por lo que las hojas deben colocarse en bolsas y dejarse junto al borde del césped, NO RASTRILLARSE HACIA LA CALLE. Rastrillar las hojas hacia la calle puede hacer que el viento o el agua las lleven hacia las rejillas de los desagües pluviales, provocando que se obstruyan durante las lluvias.

OTOÑO: Durante el otoño, las hojas pueden colocarse en bolsas o rastrillarse hasta el borde del césped, y la aspiradora de hojas las recogerá. POR FAVOR, NO SOPLES LAS HOJAS HACIA LA CALLE.

DECORACIONES DE DÍAS FESTIVOS

Decoraciones de otoño: Las calabazas, crisantemos, calabazas ornamentales, tallos de maíz, etc., se recogerán durante los días programados regularmente para la recolección del segundo martes de noviembre y diciembre.

Decoraciones de Navidad: Los árboles de Navidad y las coronas decorativas se recogerán durante los días programados regularmente para la recolección del segundo martes de enero y febrero (a menos que ocurra una tormenta de nieve y el personal esté ocupado retirando la nieve).

SI NO SE SIGUEN LAS NORMAS PARA LA RECOLECCIÓN DE ÁRBOLES Y RAMAS, EL PERSONAL DE LA CIUDAD SE RESERVA EL DERECHO DE RECHAZAR LA RECOLECCIÓN.
